Kejriwal Urges India to Retaliate with 100% Tariff on U.S. Goods

New Delhi, Aug 28:

Escalating the political debate over U.S. trade policy, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal has demanded that India impose a 100% tariff on American imports in retaliation to Washington’s decision to double duties on Indian goods.

Calling President Trump’s move “aggressive and damaging,” Kejriwal criticized the central government for being “too soft” in its response. “India must protect its economy and farmers. We cannot allow the U.S. to dictate terms,” he said during a press briefing.

The government has yet to announce its next course of action, though sources indicate that New Delhi is weighing countermeasures while also engaging diplomatically to prevent further escalation.

Observers note that the standoff could reshape trade relations between the two countries, with significant implications for exporters and consumers alike.
